FAQ

Frequently asked questions about the work visa

Do I need a job offer before applying for the visa?
For an employee work visa, yes: you need a contract or firm job offer from a company in Spain. For the digital nomad or self-employed visa, the requirement is different: you must prove your professional activity or your business project.
Can my family come with me?
Yes, with most work visas you can apply for family reunification for your spouse and children, usually at the same time as or shortly after your own permit.
How long is the work visa valid?
As a general rule, the initial duration is usually 1 year, renewable as long as the employment relationship or the activity that gave rise to the permit continues. In some cases the permit is valid for longer, depending on the law that applies to that type of work permit.
Can I change employers with this visa?
It depends on the type of permit. Some are tied to the company that applied for your visa during the first year; after that period, you can generally change employers.
